Athena Enzyme Systems™ is a division of Athena Environmental Sciences,
Inc.. Our group provides products and services aimed at helping researchers and
manufacturers improve the production and recovery of recombinant proteins. The
Athena Enzyme Systems™ group manufactures and sells products which include:
a proprietary line of bacteriological media specifically designed to increase the
expression of recombinant proteins; a line of serum-free medium for the culture of
human cell lines along with accessory products for cell culture; the PDQ Protease
Assay™ , a broad-spectrum, one step protease assay; specialty enzymes such as
the AFM reference protein I27O™ as well as bacterial esterases and other proteins;
and a line of reagents for the refolding of denatured proteins. All of our products
are made with attention to quality, reliability, and usability.
Athena Enzyme Systems™ also provides life-cycle contract research and
manufacturing services to industry, government, and academic clients for the
production and purification of recombinant and native proteins. Our development
and production teams can produce and purify from milligram to gram quantities of
protein. The scope of available services encompasses gene cloning, strain construction,
expression optimization, development of purification schemes, and production of
the product. Each project is customized to meet the needs of the customer. The
company’s state-of-the-art laboratory and production facilities are fully equipped
for molecular biology, microbiological, immunochemical, and protein biochemistry
projects. Athena’s staff brings expertise in molecular biology, protein biochemistry,
microbiology, enzymology, immunochemistry, toxicology, analytical chemistry, materials
chemistry, and biotech manufacturing.
Our parent company, Athena Environmental Sciences, Inc., is a diversified biotechnology
company founded in 1994 and located in Baltimore, MD. AthenaES™ specializes in
the development and commercialization of advanced biotechnology-based products and
provides life cycle contract R&D and manufacturing services for development of
innovative ideas from conceptualization to production of product. The company
manufactures several different environmentally responsible products under the
Athena Environmental Sciences label as well as under private labels for other
companies.
